Nyuki Migration Camp
by Jupe Collection
The Challenge
This client came to us with a concept for a brand new camp in Serengeti - with only 2 ½ months to bring it to life! The team wanted African artisans to be a central part of their design but also had a very Scandinavian design aesthetic in mind for the camp, making it difficult for them to source the kind of pieces they wanted locally. They also knew they wanted a 4-star lodge but needed help ensuring the design matched the expectations of their ideal guests.
The Solution
We worked within their preferred design aesthetic to propose furniture and decor that could be produced by our talented team of local artisans. We also chose to integrate items from some other impact-focused Tanzanian brands to scale the impact of the project. With a thorough understanding of the client’s goals for the project and the right design choices, we helped ensure their camp was produced by local artisans and deeply supported the local community.

The Process
We kicked off the project with a series of conversations with the client to understand their goals for the project and design preferences. Following that we developed a mood board for the different spaces of the camp. Once approved, we moved on to 3D renders to show the client exactly what the end product would look like and to provide the client with collateral they could also use to show off the project prior to completion. After the design phase, we produced most of the furniture and decor in our Arusha-based workshop and sourced a few key items from other impact-focused brands in Tanzania. Once complete, we handled the installation of the camp.
